The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De Niro looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Bowers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

De Niro should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
De Niro is controlling the position but Bowers somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Well, if De Niro is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
De Niro not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Bowers has his feet on De Niro's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Bowers has De Niro pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. De Niro manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Bowers pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

De Niro bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bowers is looking to reverse the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Robert De Niro will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

De Niro tries to clinch but Bowers moves out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

De Niro throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bowers was covering up waiting for the punch and De Niro finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Bowers has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. De Niro is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Stalling in the clinch from Bowers.
Bowers is working for takedown but De Niro is calmly controlling the position for now.
Bowers has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. De Niro avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keith Bowers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bowers is fighting off a takedown attempt but De Niro is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Bowers to the mat. Bowers regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
De Niro controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
De Niro passes easily into side control. Nice work.

De Niro advances to full mount.
De Niro lands a nice shot to the head.

De Niro has hold of Bowers's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Bowers manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The referee warns Bowers that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bowers working to try and regain half guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for De Niro. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

De Niro working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Bowers is looking to improve his position but De Niro isn't that keen on the idea.
Bowers is squirming around, avoiding De Niro's attempts to control the action.

De Niro unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Bowers wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! De Niro celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
