Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim McNulty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Padraig Pearse!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McNulty connects with an inside leg kick.
Pearse throws a lazy head kick
enabling McNulty to counter with a crisp jab.
A good leg kick by McNulty.
McNulty looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Pearse misses with a body shot
and McNulty counters with a nice uppercut.
McNulty lands a lovely overhand right.
McNulty lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Pearse throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
McNulty throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Pearse takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Pearse is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
McNulty scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pearse slips under a jab.
McNulty feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Pearse's calf.

McNulty ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
McNulty blocks the body kick.
McNulty scores with a nice body kick.
Pearse shoots for a takedown but McNulty saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Pearse misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jim McNulty seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pearse takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
McNulty scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
That kick from McNulty tenderised Pearse's leg. Pearse is trying to keep his angry face on.
McNulty pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McNulty avoids a kick to the body.
Pearse rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and McNulty counters with a nice body shot.
McNulty avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jim McNulty is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Pearse wants to clinch up but McNulty keeps it at a distance.
McNulty jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

and McNulty counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

It looked like McNulty was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

and McNulty counters with a low kick, right behind Pearse 's knee.

McNulty feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Pearse's calf.
McNulty throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Pearse stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from McNulty.
Pearse wants to clinch.
Pearse fails with the takedown
and McNulty counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Jim McNulty has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Padraig Pearse.
McNulty connects with a looping right hand.
Pearse throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McNulty's waist but McNulty gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pearse off to one side.
A slapping leg kick lands for McNulty.
Pearse shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pearse seems to have recovered his senses.
McNulty keeps control of Pearse as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
McNulty lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
McNulty lands a nice shot to the body.
Pearse tries to land a knee to the head but McNulty blocks with his arms.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pearse takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Pearse's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
McNulty lands a high kick!

Pearse darts in and clinches McNulty up against the cage.
Pearse tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
McNulty lands with a right to the head.
Pearse jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McNulty walks away with a smile on his face. Pearse gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
McNulty throws a good cross that connects.
Pearse has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by McNulty.
Pearse fails with an attempt to clinch.
McNulty slaps away a takedown attempt from Pearse, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McNulty turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Pearse tries to clinch up.
Pearse throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and McNulty counters with a nice kick to the body.
Pearse fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jim McNulty has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Padraig Pearse.
McNulty throws a quick inside leg kick.
McNulty explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Pearse tries to clinch up
and McNulty counters with a nice low kick that buckles Pearse's knee momentarily.
Padraig Pearse is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Pearse crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from McNulty - the referee stops the clock and Pearse gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says McNulty. Pearse manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Pearse throws a combination that misses
and McNulty counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
McNulty throws a series of strikes that have Pearse backpedaling.

Pearse moves into range and clinches up with McNulty.

McNulty throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pearse on the side of the head.
McNulty smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Pearse is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
McNulty thuds a left hand into Pearse's body.
Pearse moves to clinch but McNulty breaks away
and McNulty counters with an outside leg kick.
Pearse swings away with a body shot that misses
and McNulty cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

McNulty lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
McNulty throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pearse on the side of the head.
A nice leg kick lands there from McNulty.

Pearse has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from McNulty.
McNulty throws a one two combo.

Pearse closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pearse wants to take the fight to the mat but McNulty manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Pearse is trying to break the clinch but McNulty has him pressed against the cage.
McNulty lands a left hand that snaps the head of Pearse backwards.
McNulty lands a hook that snaps the head of Pearse backwards.
McNulty pushes Pearse back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Pearse tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McNulty scores with a shot to the side of Pearse's head.
Pearse is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Pearse tries for a takedown but McNulty manages to get underhooks.
A quick uppercut on the inside from McNulty.
McNulty lands with a left to the head.
McNulty throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Pearses head.
Pearse tries to land knees in the clinch but McNulty avoids the damage to the body.
Pearse throws a knee to the head but misses.
McNulty lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Pearse or not.
Pearse is breathing heavily.

McNulty breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A jab from McNulty finds it's way through Pearse's defenses.
McNulty connects with a solid leg kick.
Pearse has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Pearse there as he acknowledges the shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Pearse is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. McNulty Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Pearse is out cold, face down on the mat!
