The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Sands. That snapped MacCumhaill's head back.
Sands uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from MacCumhaill.
Sands drives through with a takedown into MacCumhaill's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Sands is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Rabid Dog that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Sands passes into half guard.
Sands is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Sands is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so MacCumhaill is just riding it out for now. Sands eventually gives up the hold.
MacCumhaill wants to control but Sands is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sands uses his free foot to push down on MacCumhaill's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for MacCumhaill.
Sands is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. MacCumhaill can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Sands goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now MacCumhaill is on top in guard.

Sands tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sands has his foot on MacCumhaill's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. MacCumhaill works his way back into a safe position though.

Sands pulls MacCumhaill in close to prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sands pushes a forearm under MacCumhaill's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, MacCumhaill is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Carl Sands tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
