Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Augustus Long!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Victor Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yuuki Gou and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Long moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Mendez takes a swing at Long's ribcage but misses.
Long pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mendez blocks a head kick by Long.
Long shoots in for a double leg but Mendez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mendez throws a shot to the body.

Mendez takes the fight into the clinch.

Long breaks from the clinch.
Mendez scores with a three punch combo!

Mendez clinches up against the cage.
Mendez lands a body punch in the clinch.

Long breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mendez dives in for a single leg takedown but Long sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Long's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Long will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Long seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Mendez has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Long is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Victor Mendez seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Mendez lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Long backwards.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Long changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mendez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Long wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mendez keeps working.

Mendez lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Augustus Long overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mendez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mendez wants to control but Long is keeping him busy.
Mendez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Long really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Victor Mendez is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I would just about give that final round to Victor Mendez.
