The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tantor throws out a loose jab but Mario uses good head movement to avoid it.
Tantor misses with an uppercut. Mario saw that one coming.
Mario lands a nice looking body kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Mario.
Tantor takes a swing at Mario's ribcage but misses.
Mario lands a leg kick that knocks Tantor off balance momentarily.
Tantor checks a low kick from Mario.
Tantor throws a right hand that Mario ducks under and follows up with a left that Mario also avoids with ease.
Tantor fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Mario tries to score with a low kick but Tantor moves his leg out of the way.

Mario flicks out a counter leg kick but Tantor steps away.
Mario throws the kick towards the body but Tantor avoids it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Tantor checks a leg kick.
Tantor lands a nice hook to Mario's body. Mario takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Tantor moves out of range as Mario throws a body kick.

A nice leg kick lands there from Mario.

Mario tries to move into range but Tantor moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Mario's coach down at Presto's Conditioning and Sparring was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Mario's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Tantor is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Mario tries to land a front kick but Tantor steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Japi Tantor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tantor throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Tantor scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Tantor misses with a looping left.
Tantor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mario moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mario takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Mario manages to break the clinch.
Tantor avoids the head kick by Mario.
A punch lands to the side of Mario 's head but he takes it in his stride.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Tantor connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mario attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Mario goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Mario does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Mario in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Tantor is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mario.
Tantor uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Mario takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Tantor closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Mario! Tantor dives in looking to finish! Mario is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
