PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jab Buckeye (ranked 4978 p4p, 498 weight class) and Collin Watson (ranked 5061 p4p, 503 weight class). Buckeye comes to the cage accompanied by Lose my mind young jeezy. Collin Watson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jab Buckeye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Collin Watson!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson lunges at Buckeye with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Buckeye's hand.


It looks like Jab Buckeye has been cut.

Buckeye manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Watson on his heels. He'll look to pass Watson's guard now, I'm sure.

Buckeye distracts Watson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Watson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Watson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Buckeye has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Watson is working away from the top position though.

Watson decides to stand up.
Watson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Buckeye sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Watson somewhat.

Buckeye shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Watson is trying to defend but Buckeye finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Watson wants to get back to his feet.

Watson tries to kick Buckeye off but Buckeye keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Watson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Buckeye is looking to take a break and control but Watson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Watson is looking to control Buckeye's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Watson avoid being mounted?
Buckeye prevents Watson from standing back up.
Buckeye throwing shots but Watson is blocking nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jab Buckeye was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
