Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Davis (ranked 7279 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stanlee Ventura (ranked 3385 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Kenny Davis has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ventura throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Davis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ventura is in Davis 's guard.

Davis working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ventura.
Ventura working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Ventura gets to his feet - Davis follows without any prompting.
Ventura stuffs the takedown.
Ventura tries to clinch but Davis is having none of it.

Ventura shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Davis 's guard.
Ventura slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Still in half guard, Ventura seems content to control.
Ventura passes the guard and advances to mount!
Davis is desperately trying to improve his position but Ventura has a good base and remains in mount.
Ventura takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Ventura prevents Davis from getting the reversal.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ventura jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Davis manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Davis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ventura on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ventura decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Ventura closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Davis on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Davis tries to get out of the position.

Ventura throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Davis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ventura is fending him off so far but Davis persists. Nope, Ventura circles away and we're back to standing.

Ventura had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Davis defends it easily.

Davis rushes Ventura and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Ventura manages to break the clinch.
Ventura throws a nice looking combination but Davis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Ventura changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Davis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Davis tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Ventura takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Ventura keeps control of the position as Davis tries to break free.
Ventura really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Davis .

Ventura is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Ventura has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That's time! Davis 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Davis gets caught flat footed, as Ventura shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Davis is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Ventura presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Ventura tries to land knees in the clinch but Davis avoids the damage to the body.
Ventura is working for takedown but Davis is calmly controlling the position for now.

Davis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Davis won't allow Ventura to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Stanlee Ventura is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Ventura has an Americana. Davis didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Ventura is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Ventura hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
