Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Odis Hancock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Connor McGregor!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGregor gets a double leg takedown into Hancock's guard.
McGregor tries to stand but Hancock is controlling from the bottom.
McGregor landing with the ground and pound.
Hancock doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Hancock trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Hancock thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Hancock lands a good elbow from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hancock throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hancock throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hancock takes a shot right to the bread basket.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McGregor drives through with a takedown into Hancock's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
McGregor trying to control but Hancock is working from the bottom.
McGregor preventing the sweep.
McGregor wants to control from the top but Hancock keeps moving.
McGregor is stalling in the full guard.
Hancock throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
McGregor trying to control but Hancock is working from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Hancock lands some strikes from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

McGregor throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hancock was covering up waiting for the punch and McGregor finishes the takedown easily into guard.
McGregor slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hancock doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
McGregor throws a big elbow that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McGregor wants to stand but Hancock has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
McGregor must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
McGregor trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
McGregor is looking to stand up but Hancock won't let him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
McGregor looks winded!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hancock enables McGregor to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hancock manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hancock bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McGregor's guard.

Hancock works over McGregor with some ground and pound from guard.

Hancock decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Hancock closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
McGregor bucks up and tries to throw Hancock off but instead Hancock has got his back!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hancock looking for the choke but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hancock is riding his opponent, not letting McGregor buck him off.

Hancock is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! McGregor is tapping out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Odis Hancock!
Connor McGregor was interviewed post fight and said 'Fight that hardheaded bitch'.
