PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Hill (ranked 157 p4p, 9 weight class) and Road Block (ranked 946 p4p, 34 weight class). Block has chosen The Motherfucking G.I. Joe Theme. as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Road Block!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hill feints and as Block raises his hands in defense, Hill changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Block bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hill's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Block preventing the sweep.
Block lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Block cracks Hill with a solid left hand.
Block throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Block distracts Hill with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Block really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hill. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hill lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Hill postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Block can do anything to dispel that myth.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Block is on top in guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hill is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Block defends well.
Block tries to free his leg and advance position but Hill is retaining full guard.

Hill is pushing down on Block's leg trying to pass to half guard. Block is fighting to maintain full guard but Hill has managed to sneak the leg through.
Hill prevents Block from improving his position.
Hill looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Block with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Block felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Block is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Block has hold of Hill's hands but Hill slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Block throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Hill scoring with some ground and pound.
Block looking for a sweep. Not yet Block, not yet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Block is on top in guard.

Hill is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hill takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hill seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Hill is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hill lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hill lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Hill scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Block is looking to improve his position.
Hill is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Block is still in real trouble! Can Hill finish him?
Block on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Hill lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Block! More strikes land and this one is all over! Hill jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Hill!
An out of breath Mark Hill thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
