Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Carmen Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Wally!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wally fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
No joy there for Wally, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sloppy strikes from Wally. Those never looked like landing.
Wally shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jones seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Jones takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones blocks a head kick by Wally.
Jones goes for a double leg but Wally avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Wally continues to drive forward.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Wally.
Carmen Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Wally.

Jones is trying to pull guard but Wally turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Jones tries to throw a body punch but Wally avoids it by throwing Jones back against the cage.
Wally tries for a takedown but Jones manages to get underhooks.
Wally is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Jones is defending well.
Wally stops a takedown attempt from Jones.
Jones is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Wally gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Jones changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Wally fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Wally takes the fight into the clinch.

Jones fails to pull guard.
Jones goes for a takedown in the clinch but Wally prevents it.
Wally is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Jones tries to throw a body punch but Wally avoids it by throwing Jones back against the cage.

Wally is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.
Jones will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Wally wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Jones is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Jones won't allow Wally to sweep him here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wally thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wally lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Wally sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Wally lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Wally controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Wally dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Jones shoots in for a takedown but Wally shows good takedown defense.
Wally dives in for a single leg takedown but Jones sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Jones went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Wally shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wally displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Jones has Wally pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Wally manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Jones is trying to drag Wally to the mat but Wally just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Wally looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.

Jones manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Wally on his heels. He'll look to pass Wally's guard now, I'm sure.

As Wally looks to move away, Jones throws a big counter combo but Wally just gets out of the way.
Wally shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jones seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
James Wally seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wally moves into the clinch.
Jones prevents a takedown attempt there.

Wally gets control of Jones's arms and successfully pulls guard. Wally will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Wally is looking for a triangle but Jones pushes his legs off easily.
Jones postures up in Wally's guard and throws a big left but Wally blocks it.

Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Wally is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wally wants to pass to mount but Jones is defending the position.
Jones is trying to control but can't.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wally throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jones wants to control but Wally is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Wally showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wally.
Jones tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wally swivels and escapes.
Wally shoots in but no luck this time.
Carmen Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jones darts in looking for a takedown but Wally gets double underhooks and turns Jones into the cage.

Wally rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jones misses with a punch to the body.

Wally successfully pulls guard.
Wally preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Jones throws a big right hand that misses.
Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Wally is looking to stand up but Jones isn't so interested in that idea.
Wally working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jones.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Wally holds on and takes a little breather.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Jones got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wally has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jones has managed to get both his arms back between Wally's legs - danger averted.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Wally takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jones shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wally defends it nicely.
Jones sets himself, and Wally steps forward looking for the clinch! Jones avoids it this time.
Wally shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jones sprawls well. Jones wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wally gets slowly back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Wally fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away.
Jones throws a leg kick but Wally moved away.
Despite the aggression on Wally's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Jones shoots in for a double leg but Wally sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Wally is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

James Wally comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Wally winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
