PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Tverdovskiy (ranked 5671 p4p, 506 weight class) and Luc Olli (ranked 4599 p4p, 453 weight class). Tverdovskiy comes into the arena with Oxxxymiron - Tentacles blaring out of the sound system. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alexander Tverdovskiy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Luc Olli!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olli takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Olli shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tverdovskiy as he jumps to the side.

Tverdovskiy closes the distance and clinches.
Tverdovskiy pushes off an throws an elbow but Olli leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Tverdovskiy lands a body punch.
Olli told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

Tverdovskiy lands a nice shot to the body.
Olli has had enough of the clinch but Tverdovskiy keeps him there for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tverdovskiy lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Olli backwards.

Olli drags the fight down to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Olli working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tverdovskiy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tverdovskiy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Olli doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Olli shoots in looking for a takedown. Tverdovskiy tries to sprawl out of it but Olli keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tverdovskiy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Olli moves into range and clinches up with Tverdovskiy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tverdovskiy lands a right hand that snaps the head of Olli backwards.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Tverdovskiy.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Tverdovskiy.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Tverdovskiy.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Tverdovskiy lands with a short shot to the head.
Tverdovskiy lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Olli backwards.
Olli tries to pull guard but Tverdovskiy forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Alexander Tverdovskiy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luc Olli.
Olli is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Olli wants a takedown but no success here.
Tverdovskiy lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Olli wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Olli goes for a takedown in the clinch but Tverdovskiy prevents it.
Tverdovskiy's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Olli changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Tverdovskiy fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Olli gets tackled into the cage by Tverdovskiy. Tverdovskiy maintains the clinch.
Tverdovskiy's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Tverdovskiy dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Tverdovskiy drops Olli with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Olli looks back up at him and smiles so Tverdovskiy waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

and Tverdovskiy rattles Olli with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Olli tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Tverdovskiy dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Olli stiff and motionless on the mat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Alexander Tverdovskiy!
Alexander Tverdovskiy seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
