Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roy Jones Gracie (ranked 2480 p4p, 266 weight class) and Alvey Kulina (ranked 2267 p4p, 247 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Roy Jones Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alvey Kulina!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie fails to land the takedown.
Gracie shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kulina defends it nicely.
Kulina looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Gracie shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roy Jones Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gracie throws a series of punches but Kulina moves out of range.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kulina! But no joy.
Kulina lands a right hook to the body.
Kulina stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kulina wants it to stay on the feet.
Gracie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kulina.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roy Jones Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Gracie counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kulina jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kulina leaves Gracie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kulina jabs Gracie to the body, keeping him at a distance.
No joy there for Kulina, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Gracie swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Kulina lands a jab to the nose.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gracie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kulina scores with a sloppy right hand. Gracie should have avoided that one.
Kulina misses with a straight right.
Kulina throws an overhand right that lands on Gracie's shoulder, as Gracie tries to avoid the shot.

Gracie gets the takedown into side control.
Kulina is trying to buck Gracie off.
Gracie trying to control the action but Kulina is working from the bottom.

Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Who's going to make the next move?
Kulina tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gracie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Gracie is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kulina has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kulina tries to escape but Gracie is in control.

Gracie working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Kulina tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gracie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kulina knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kulina is looking to reverse the position.
Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kulina keeps working.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kulina is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alvey Kulina dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kulina is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gracie.
Gracie slips a jab and a cross from Kulina.
Gracie tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kulina defends well and Gracie ends up having to push Kulina into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
A bone on bone clash there as Gracie blocks the leg kick.
Kulina moves out of range as Gracie strikes.

Gracie is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Gracie tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kulina defends well and Gracie ends up having to push Kulina into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

and Gracie counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kulina moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Gracie looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Kulina has one foot on Gracie's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alvey Kulina showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kulina pushes Gracie off looking to stand but Gracie dives back in and keeps control.

Kulina tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control.

Gracie has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Kulina takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Alvey Kulina is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I've got Kulina winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
