The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trudeau tries to bum rush Mendez with a series of wild strikes but Mendez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mendez dodges the punch combination from Trudeau.
Trudeau clobbers Mendez with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Mendez takes the fight into the clinch.
Mendez with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Trudeau trying to control the position but instead, Mendez has worked for underhooks and has pushed Trudeau into the cage.
Mendez pushes Trudeau back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Mendez throws an elbow but it's blocked.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Trudeau tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Mendez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Mendez rushes Trudeau and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Trudeau pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A nice combination there by Trudeau.
Trudeau throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mendez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Mendez looks winded!
Mendez takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Mendez takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Mendez swings for the body but Trudeau moves out of range.
Trudeau scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Trudeau connects with a crisp jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Trudeau is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Yves Trudeau is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mendez is rocked!
A combination from Trudeau does no damage.
Mendez is still on wobbly legs! Can Trudeau finish him?
Mendez has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Trudeau throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Mendez stumbling backwards into the cage! Mendez bounces back off the cage towards Trudeau, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Trudeau lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Trudeau celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
