PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Manny Quirez (ranked 3822 p4p, 415 weight class) and Yusef Hurwitz (ranked 25280 p4p, 648 weight class). Yusef Hurwitz is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Manny Quirez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Yusef Hurwitz!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Quirez gets the takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hurwitz managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Quirez.
Quirez tries to move into full mount but can't pass Hurwitz's legs.

Quirez stands up and beckons Hurwitz to his feet.
Quirez's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hurwitz connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Quirez scrambles back to his feet.
Quirez shoots in for a takedown but Hurwitz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Hurwitz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Quirez, pushing him back against the cage.

Hurwitz jumps guard and drags Quirez to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Hurwitz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Hurwitz working for a triangle but Quirez defends it easily.

Quirez tries to stand but Hurwitz is controlling from the bottom.
Hurwitz keeping moving, preventing Quirez from controlling successfully.

Hurwitz is looking to cinch up a triangle. Quirez throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hurwitz's body to avoid the submission. Hurwitz has instead reached around Quirez's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hurwitz arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
