PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Demarte Pena (ranked 2806 p4p, 126 weight class) and Android Ten (ranked 3661 p4p, 155 weight class). Pena's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Mesmo Assim. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pena looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ten is fending him off so far but Pena persists. Nope, Ten circles away and we're back to standing.
Ten closes the distance and clinches up with Pena, looking for a takedown. Ten pushes Pena against the cage but Pena circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pena seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Ten's coach down at Chris Leben KO Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Ten's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
A solid leg kick lands there for Ten.
Ten misses with a takedown attempt - Pena sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pena shoots in looking for a takedown but Ten manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pena's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Pena remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Pena has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Pena changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ten tries to avoid it but Pena manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ten to the ground. Ten escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Pena's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pena, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
