PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danny Page (ranked 4088 p4p, 444 weight class) and Jose Alvaro (ranked 3754 p4p, 418 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jose Alvaro was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Page!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Alvaro!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Page lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Alvaro thows a left - swing and a miss!
Alvaro ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Page throws the left hand but Alvaro avoids the punch easily.

Alvaro looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Page shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Page advances to half guard.
Page wants to take a breather but Alvaro is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Page is really struggling to control Alvaro but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Page is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Page is just content to waste time from the top position. Alvaro takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Alvaro is controlling Page's posture.
Page throwing strikes from guard but Alvaro blocks nicely.
Page looking to sit in guard and control but Alvaro gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Page gets tackled into the cage by Alvaro. Alvaro maintains the clinch.
Alvaro keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Page's efforts to push away.

Page is looking for a kimura but Alvaro is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Page to get the leverage.

Page decides to stand and escape the position.
Nice uppercut lands for Page. That snapped Alvaro's head back.

Page throws a sloppy head kick and Alvaro moves out of range easily.
Alvaro cracks Page with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

A close round but Jose Alvaro will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Page throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Alvaro throws the left hand but Page avoids the punch easily.
Alvaro darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Page swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Page connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Some bone on bone action there as Page checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Alvaro might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Page was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

As Alvaro tries to get set, Page tries to push him back and clinch up but Alvaro manages to avoid the attempt.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That was a close second round but I would say that Danny Page will probably get the nod.
That's time! Page's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Page. That's going to take a lot out of him.

I think Alvaro has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
