PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zane Mason (ranked 56 p4p, 9 weight class) and Blind Shaman (ranked 58 p4p, 10 weight class). Shaman has chosen Shaman's Dream as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 16 - 3, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blind Shaman!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mason was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Mason got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shaman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mason has managed to get both his arms back between Shaman's legs - danger averted.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shaman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mason defends well.

That was a close round but Zane Mason did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.

Shaman is stalling here. Mason is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Shaman seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mason has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Mason has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Mason and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Shaman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mason defends it easily.
Shaman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mason controls the pace.

Shaman has his foot on Mason's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mason works his way back into a safe position though.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mason, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
