The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mellow drives through with a takedown into Ortega's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Mellow drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ortega looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ortega looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ortega!
Ortega wants to stand but Mellow has his arm trapped.
An elbow from Ortega crashes against the mat.
Ortega in side control lands a decent elbow.
Ortega wants to take a breather but Mellow manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Ortega.
Mellow escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ortega gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ortega is looking to stand up but Mellow won't let him.

Ortega stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Mellow throws up his legs and catches Ortega in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Ortega tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Mellow! That came out of nowhere!
