PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Okami Kumo (ranked 3231 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junoir Youth (ranked 5137 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Okami Kumo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Junoir Youth!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Youth checks the leg kick nicely there.
Youth is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Okami Kumo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Youth stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Youth wants it to stay on the feet.
Despite the aggression on Youth's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Youth shoots in looking for a takedown but Kumo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Youth's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kumo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Youth sprawls well. Youth wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kumo gets slowly back to his feet.
Kumo tries for a takedown but Youth sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Okami Kumo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Youth throws a series of punches but Kumo moves out of range.
Youth displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kumo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kumo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Kumo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Kumo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Youth really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kumo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Youth is looking for a sweep.
Youth is holding Kumo down, trying to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Youth's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kumo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kumo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kumo in side control, throwing shots but Youth defends.
Youth wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Youth managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Kumo.
Kumo tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Kumo working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Kumo throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Kumo moves into full mount!
Youth tries to hold on but Kumo pushes him away.
Kumo throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Youth because Kumo loaded up on that one.
Youth tries to buck Kumo off but he can't manage it.
Kumo misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Kumo controlling the pace for now.

Kumo working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kumo looking to control and managing it successfully.
Kumo unloads with some shots from mount but Youth bucks and avoids them well.
Kumo thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Kumo throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Kumo throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kumo misses with a head shot.

Kumo looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Kumo is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Kumo extends the arm and Youth is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Okami Kumo!
A relieved looking Okami Kumo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
