PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Bergeron (ranked 5315 p4p, 0 weight class) and Son Goku (ranked 3622 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mikael Bergeron!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Son Goku!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good exchange - Goku coming out on top.

It looks like Mikael Bergeron has been cut.
Goku uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bergeron has time to react.
Goku throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Goku feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Bergerons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Goku listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Sloppy strikes from Goku. Those never looked like landing.
Bergeron shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Goku sprawls well. Goku wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bergeron gets slowly back to his feet.

Goku tries to sprawl but Bergeron drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Goku wants to sweep but Bergeron has passed to side control!
Bergeron lands a decent elbow from side control.
Goku can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A lull in the action here as Bergeron stalls from top position.
Goku is looking to reverse the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bergeron lands a few punches from side control.

Bergeron is working to tighten his grip on Goku's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Goku has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Bergeron is really squeezing tight and eventually Goku passes out! Bergeron breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
