The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvis is looking to clinch but Vaughn is avoiding it.
Vaughn swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Vaughn looks to score with a jab to the body but Alvis is just out of range.
Alvis lands with a thumping leg kick.
Vaughn on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Alvis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Vaughn tries to improve position but can't.
Vaughn is working hard here to advance position.
Alvis creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Vaughn is not content to let Alvis control the position.
Alvis tries to advance to mount but can't.
Vaughn tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alvis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Vaughn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alvis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
