PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bo Xiang Pao (ranked 96 p4p, 11 weight class) and Farboleous Ricard (ranked 60 p4p, 6 weight class). Ricard has chosen Vibe Killer as his entrance music. Farboleous Ricard told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Farboleous Ricard!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ricard loads up on a big right hand but Xiang Pao slips the punch.
Ricard takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Ricard has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Xiang Pao is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Ricard uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Ricard looks to throw the jab but Xiang Pao is out of range.
Xiang Pao swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Ricard blocks a head kick by Xiang Pao.
Xiang Pao buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A swing and a miss from Ricard.
Xiang Pao is looking to counter punch.
Ricard scores with a hook to the body. Xiang Pao takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Xiang Pao gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Ricard uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Xiang Pao.
Ricard looks to land a body kick but Xiang Pao moved away.
Ricard misses with a hook.
Xiang Pao fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ricard checks it well.
Nice shot lands for Ricard.
Xiang Pao bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Xiang Pao connects with a solid leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Xiang Pao lands a leg kick that knocks Ricard off balance momentarily.
Xiang Pao scores with a decent looking hook.
Ricard misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Xiang Pao counters with an outside leg kick.

Xiang Pao comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Ricard swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Xiang Pao tries a low kick but Ricard avoids it.
Ricard misses with a looping right.

Ricard instigates a clinch.
Ricard blocks an elbow strike.
Xiang Pao tries to break the clinch but Ricard is controlling the position.
Ricard misses with a hook from the clinch.
Ricard blocks an uppercut.
Xiang Pao misses with some punches.

Ricard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ricard throws out a leg kick but Xiang Pao moves out of range and Ricard only half commits.
Xiang Pao looks to throw the jab but Ricard is out of range.
Nice shot lands for Ricard.
Ricard tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ricard slips under a jab.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ricard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ricard tries to advance to mount but Xiang Pao denies him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ricard has hold of Xiang Pao's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Xiang Pao tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Ricard cranks the arm and Xiang Pao screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Xiang Pao, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Farboleous Ricard!
In his post fight interview, Farboleous Ricard gave a big smile as he said 'I'm not gay, that's WHY I can wear fag's clothes.....'.
