PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sang Haley (ranked 23974 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arunas Kerbedis (ranked 3324 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Sang Haley has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sang Haley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Arunas Kerbedis!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Haley decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Kerbedis manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Haley keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Kerbedis looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Haley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Haley wants to land a leg kick but Kerbedis is out of range.
Kerbedis is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Haley tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Kerbedis counters with a single leg into guard. Haley didn't expect that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Haley is trying to keep Kerbedis in close.

Haley has his foot on Kerbedis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kerbedis works his way back into a safe position though.
Haley wants to sweep here but Kerbedis controlling him for the moment.

Haley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kerbedis defends it easily.
Haley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kerbedis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kerbedis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Haley is looking for a triangle but Kerbedis pushes his legs off easily.
Kerbedis tries to free his leg and advance position but Haley is retaining full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Haley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kerbedis's guard.

Haley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kerbedis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kerbedis is trying to control the position but Haley postures up.

Haley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kerbedis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kerbedis wants to sweep but no luck.
Kerbedis keeps trying to improve his position.
Kerbedis wants to hit a switch here but Haley passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Kerbedis there!

The referee warns Kerbedis that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Haley is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kerbedis to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kerbedis shrugs it off.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Haley is working for a guillotine from mount but Kerbedis frees his head quite easily.
Haley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Haley lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kerbedis is looking to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sang Haley dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Haley just misses with a punch to the body.
Kerbedis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Haley sprawls well. Haley wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kerbedis gets slowly back to his feet.
Kerbedis closes the distance and clinches up with Haley, looking for a takedown. Kerbedis pushes Haley against the cage but Haley circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Haley changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Haley shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Haley thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kerbedis's head.
Kerbedis is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Haley is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Haley is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kerbedis defends it well.
Kerbedis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Haley is working away from the top position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Haley is trying to work for a kimura but Kerbedis is defending well.

Sang Haley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Haley is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kerbedis is just riding it out for now. Haley eventually gives up the hold.

Haley passes into side control, despite Kerbedis's attempt to control the position.
Kerbedis tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Haley works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Kerbedis dodges the ground and pound from Haley.
Haley postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Haley decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Haley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kerbedis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Haley rushes Kerbedis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sang Haley dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Haley closes the distance and clinches.
Haley is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kerbedis can do to turn this around?
Kerbedis drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Haley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Haley moves in looking to clinch but Kerbedis pushes him off.
Sang Haley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kerbedis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Haley as he avoids it easily.

Haley has Kerbedis up against the cage in a clinch.
Kerbedis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Haley breaks the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Haley lands a nice looking body kick.

Kerbedis gets caught napping as Haley dives in and scores a takedown. Kerbedis manages to retain guard.
Kerbedis is looking to stand back up but Haley counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Kerbedis.

Haley not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Haley seems to be working for a kimura but Kerbedis defends the submission attempt.
Haley is nestled in close to Kerbedis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kerbedis taking some punishment here, with Haley in his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kerbedis trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Haley connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Haley looking to finish Kerbedis with some ground and pound. This is bad for Kerbedis!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kerbedis is bucking up trying to escape but Haley cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Haley breaks from Kerbedis's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Kerbedis blocking the ground and pound.

Haley is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Kerbedis is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Kerbedis flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Haley anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Kerbedis and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Haley slips an arm under Kerbedis chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Haley has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Haley is squeezing on Kerbedis like an anaconda would it's prey. Kerbedis fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Sang Haley!
The defeated Arunas Kerbedis had this to say: 'Suck your mom lol'.
