The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hadjiev has a takedown stuffed.
Dick shoots in looking for a takedown but Hadjiev manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dick's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And Hadjiev tries to counter it with a takedown but Dick pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hadjiev fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Dick fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hadjiev sprawls well initially but Dick persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hadjiev has hold of Dick's hands but Dick slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Hadjiev wants to get back to his feet.
Dick passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hadjiev!
Hadjiev can't escape the position.

It looks like Valentin Hadjiev has been cut.

Dick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Dick lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
