Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Deandre Stone (ranked 24238 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ootis Mims (ranked 4651 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Deandre Stone has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Deandre Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ootis Mims!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mims throws the left hand but Stone avoids the punch easily.
Stone jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Mims throws out a leg kick but Stone moves out of range and Mims only half commits.
Stone throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mims's waist but Mims gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stone off to one side.
Stone backing away here, and Mims unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Mims throws a body shot but no joy.
Stone seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stone is on top in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mims can do anything to dispel that myth.

Let's hope that Mims has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Mims replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Stone blocks it well.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Stone looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Mims has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mims lands a big shot there that rocks Stone but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Oh Stone is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Mims postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Stone looks a forlorn figure.
