Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jerome Alviso (ranked 3090 p4p, 346 weight class) and Suren Nazarethyan (ranked 6358 p4p, 541 weight class). Alviso comes to the cage accompanied by Pooh Man-Oakland. The crowd seem to be enjoying Nazarethyan's choice of entrance music: Amerika. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jerome Alviso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 48 - 49 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Suren Nazarethyan!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nazarethyan swings for the body but Alviso moves out of range.
Alviso was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Nazarethyan shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Alviso is trying to defend but Nazarethyan finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Alviso wants to improve his position but Nazarethyan is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nazarethyan trying to mount his opponent but Alviso defends it.
Alviso is looking to control Nazarethyan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Alviso avoid being mounted?

Alviso is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Official UFC Performance Institute Training Center that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Alviso looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alviso manages to get to full guard.
Alviso is trying to keep Nazarethyan in close.
Nazarethyan trying to control the position from guard on top but Alviso is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nazarethyan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Nazarethyan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Nazarethyan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Alviso is looking for a triangle but Nazarethyan pushes his legs off easily.

Nazarethyan content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Alviso has locked up a guillotine! Alviso's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Nazarethyan is holding on here and Alviso must be using up a lot of energy. Nazarethyan has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Alviso gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jerome Alviso!
Jerome Alviso opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
Suren Nazarethyan was interviewed post fight and said 'I Will Come Back Stronger Than Before'.
