Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith leaves Pennington with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Smith moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Pennington fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Smith unleashes a big counter combination but Pennington bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pennington circles away quickly and effectively.
Pennington is looking for a counter combo.
Pennington takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Smith throws a sloppy head kick

and Pennington counters by clinching up.

Smith tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Smith jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pennington walks away with a smile on his face. Smith gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Pennington might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Pennington is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Smith shapes to counter with a head kick.

Pennington is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Smith knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pennington has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Smith has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Pennington has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Smith's body.

Pennington is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Smith defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Smith has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Pennington is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Smith.

Pennington goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Smith has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pennington but great work by Smith.
Gabriel Pennington overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Smith stuffs the takedown attempt from Pennington. Pennington gets slowly back to his feet.

A close second round but Tony Smith will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Pennington appears to be looking for a big counter.

Pennington feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
