Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Arges!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Arges looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Nelson!
Arges happy to just control the position for now.
Arges has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Nelson!
Arges is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Nelson is in real trouble.
Nelson is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Arges might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Arges slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Let's hope that Arges has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Nelson closes the distance looking to clinch

and Arges counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Nelson is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Arges dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Arges works to advance to full mount. Nelson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Arges has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Arges with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Gabriel Arges has got the better of the ground game so far.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Arges takes Nelson's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Nelson is in trouble.

Arges is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
You can see the frustration on Nelson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Arges.

Gabriel Arges showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Arges shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Nelson stops Arges from passing to mount.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Arges working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
A control attempt from Nelson but he's now mounted!
Arges controlling the pace for now.

Arges with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Nelson wants to control but Arges is having none of it.
Arges tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Arges is looking to work his way around to Nelson's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Arges's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Gabriel Arges comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Arges has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
