Howard comes to the cage accompanied by Veterans Day. The key to victory for Brice Howard has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brice Howard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michelangelo Di Lodovico!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Di Lodovico jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Good shot there by Howard.
Howard fails with the takedown.
Di Lodovico bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Brice Howard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Howard misses the jab.
Di Lodovico appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Di Lodovico. Howard does a little dance to reset his feet.
Howard throws a sloppy head kick

and Di Lodovico counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Let's hope that Di Lodovico has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Di Lodovico tries to pass the half guard into mount. Howard knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Howard is trying to stand.
Howard's coaches at Cozad MMA Montreal have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Howard is staying active underneath Di Lodovico, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Di Lodovico is looking for a kimura here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Di Lodovico perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Di Lodovico passes to full mount!
Howard is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Howard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Di Lodovico on the ground.
Di Lodovico is looking to work his way around to Howard's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Di Lodovico controlling the pace for now.
Di Lodovico is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Howard is in real trouble.

Howard is trying to get back to his feet but Di Lodovico has full control of the position and if anything, Howard has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Di Lodovico has good solid back control here.

Di Lodovico has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Howard has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Howard is trying to defend against the choke here but Di Lodovico has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Di Lodovico Tightens the hold and Howard taps out furiously! Di Lodovico displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Michelangelo Di Lodovico!
A relieved looking Michelangelo Di Lodovico thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
In defeat, Brice Howard stepped up to the mic, saying 'I'm hoping I gave the fans what they wanted. I do apologize, it was his night, not mine. The better man won tonight. But I'll be back! I'll keep training and working, so I can get back in here and put on a show for all of you! Thank you!'.
