The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nieminen fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Montana slips a straight right by Nieminen.

Montana is looking to clinch but Nieminen is avoiding it.

A jab-cross combination lands for Nieminen and sends Montana crashing to the mat! Nieminen follows him down to the mat - Montana regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Nieminen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Nieminen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Montana had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Nieminen is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Montana Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Nieminen's back instead.
Nieminen wants to control his opponent's hands but Montana gets his hands free.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hannah Montana has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The referee stands the fighters back up. Oupa Nieminen just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Montana tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
