PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cedric Cabran (ranked 3443 p4p, 388 weight class) and Sonny Nathans (ranked 4317 p4p, 446 weight class). Cabran comes to the cage accompanied by Kill The DJ. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cedric Cabran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sonny Nathans!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cabran bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Nathans's head backwards.
Nathans looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Nathans misses with a combination
and Cabran counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Nathans takes one on the button.
Cabran lands a two punch combo.
Cabran definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Cabran jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nathans doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Cabran lands with a nice body punch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Cabran lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Nathans sprawling to the canvas. Cabran follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Nathans hang on?


Nathans is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cabran sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Nathans defending well though.
Nathans is still in real trouble! Can Cabran finish him?
Cabran thows a huge punch but Nathans dodges it nicely.
Cabran takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Nathans blocking the ground and pound attempt from Cabran.
Nathans is looking to control Cabran's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nathans avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cabran throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Nathans to regain full guard.
Nathans seems to have recovered his senses.
Cabran wants to pass the guard but Nathans is keeping the position.
Cabran knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nathans on the ground.
Cabran throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nathans works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cabran accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cabran throws a strike but Nathans rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


That's one minute gone in the round.

Nathans thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nathans accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Nathans stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Nathans throws a chopping leg kick but Cabran manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Cabran looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Nathans drives through and clinches with Cabran against the cage.
Cabran gets underhooks to prevent Nathans's takedown attempt.
Nathans looks winded!
Cabran stops a takedown attempt from Nathans.
Cabran pushes Nathans back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Cabran lands a shot to the body.

Cabran breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nathans on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Nathans throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Cabran bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Nathans! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cabran throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Cabran in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nathans preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Cabran stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nathans swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nathans utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Cabran postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Cabran throws an elbow that misses. Nathans uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cabran's guard. Nice move by Nathans!


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nathans wants to control from the top but Cabran keeps moving.

Nathans drops back looking for a leg! Cabran is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cabran manages to kick Nathans off! Nathans jumps back into Cabran's guard.
Cabran looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Nathans throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cabran is trying to keep Nathans in close.
Cabran is adopting a defensive guard.
Nathans stopping the sweep attempt from Cabran.
Nathans postures up in Cabran's guard and throws a big left but Cabran blocks it.
Cabran on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cabran tries to get out of the position.
Nathans missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Cabran is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cabran wants to stand up but Nathans is controlling him.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Cabran wants to sweep but no luck.

Nathans drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nathans jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cabran is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Cabran bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Nathans ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Cabran lands a jab to Nathans's midsection.
Nathans has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Cabran finds it's way round the side to connect with Nathans's head.
Nathans misses with a two punch combination.
Nathans throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nathans has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Nathans there as he acknowledges the shot.
Cabran scores with a shot to the body.
Nathans takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Nathans misses with a double jab.

That's five minutes gone in the round.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cedric Cabran!
As Cedric Cabran got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: Bahug bilat imong mom'.
