PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ivory Moody (ranked 25084 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ezekiel Stone (ranked 6679 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ivory Moody!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ezekiel Stone!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stone scores with a takedown into Moody's guard.
Moody really is a fat lump.
Stone is pushing down on Moody's leg trying to pass to half guard. Moody is fighting to maintain full guard but Stone has managed to sneak the leg through.

Stone stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Stone forces Moody back against the cage and clinches.

Stone has hold of one of Moody's legs. Moody is fighting the takedown attempt but Stone gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Stone slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
It looks like Stone might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Moody works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Stone controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Stone throwing strikes but missing.
Stone stands and throws Moody's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Moody avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Stone.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Stone controlling from side mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stone tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Moody wants to control but Stone postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moody defending against the ground and pound.
Moody takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Stone goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Moody rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Stone's guard! Nice work there by Moody!
Moody would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Stone tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stone managing to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Moody got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stone has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Moody has managed to get both his arms back between Stone's legs - danger averted.
Stone looking to hit a scissor sweep but Moody is one step ahead there.
Stone has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Stone wants to stand and escape but Moody is having none of it.
Moody has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Moody trying to control the position from guard on top but Stone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stone wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ezekiel Stone dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Stone gets a takedown into half guard.
Stone has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Stone with the ground and pound but Moody uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Stone controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stone pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Moody is keeping the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moody throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moody can't keep his opponent in guard - Stone advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Stone throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Moody to regain full guard.
Ezekiel Stone has got the better of the ground game so far.
Stone content to stall in guard here.
Moody might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Stone slips nicely into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stone throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Stone keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Moody is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Stone thows a huge punch but Moody dodges it nicely.
Stone stalling.
Stone uses his free foot to push down on Moody's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Moody.

Stone tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Stone thowing shots but they're missing.
Stone controlling his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Stone throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Moody tries to reverse the position but Stone maintains control.
Stone sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Stone is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Moody is surviving well by controlling Stone's body position as best he can.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Moody throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ezekiel Stone showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Stone gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Moody is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Stone to keep the fight standing.
Moody tries a knee to the head but Stone blocks it.

Stone has Moody pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Stone pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Moody tumbling to the mat - Stone dives into Moody's guard.
Stone slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Moody knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stone on the ground.
Stone is looking to work some ground and pound but Moody has wrist control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stone is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moody wants to hit a switch here but Stone passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Moody there!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Moody blocking the ground and pound.
Stone content just to control the position here.
Stone is continuing to stall.
Stone misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stone has hold of Moody's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Moody manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Stone controlling his opponent.
Moody tries to hold on but Stone pushes him away.
Stone controlling his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Stone wants to finish this one by submission but Moody is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Stone.
Stone throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Ezekiel Stone comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stone has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
