PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Zigrand (ranked 24075 p4p, 652 weight class) and Larry Dowson (ranked 6496 p4p, 602 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Zigrand might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Linkin Park - Never back down. Dowson has chosen Desiigner - Panda as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Daniel Zigrand!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Larry Dowson!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Valeri Chadov and Ivan Kurochkin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zigrand takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Zigrand checks a low kick from Dowson.
Dowson throws a nice looking combination but Zigrand bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dowson throws a front kick aimed at Zigrand's knee but Zigrand avoids it well.
Dowson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Dowson duly obliges.

It looks like Daniel Zigrand has been cut.

and Dowson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Dowson.

Zigrand manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Zigrand is working an open guard so Dowson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Zigrand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dowson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Zigrand moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Zigrand quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Larry Dowson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dowson stalks Zigrand and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Zigrand's face. Zigrand staggers backwards, shaken.
Dowson throws a front kick aimed at Zigrand's knee but Zigrand avoids it well.
Dowson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Dowson lands a two punch combo.
Zigrand looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Dowson scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Zigrand shoots for a takedown but Dowson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Zigrand. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dowson drops Zigrand with a beautiful combination! Zigrand stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Dowson is looking for the KO!

Zigrand shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dowson pinned against the cage. Dowson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Dowson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Dowson drops Zigrand with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Zigrand looks back up at him and smiles so Dowson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Zigrand is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

and Dowson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Zigrand seems to have got his legs back now.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Dowson manages to break the clinch.
Dowson tries to bum rush Zigrand with a series of wild strikes but Zigrand uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dowson stuffs the takedown attempt from Zigrand. Zigrand gets slowly back to his feet.
Zigrand fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Zigrand is breathing heavily.

Dowson lands a left and a right that send Zigrand crashing to the mat, dazed. Dowson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Dowson looks for the body kick but Zigrand saw that one coming.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Dowson lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Zigrand has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Zigrand and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dowson tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Zigrand is able to avoid easily.
Zigrand tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Dowson manages to circle out of the way.
Zigrand takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Dowson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Dowson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Zigrands jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Oooooh!!! Dowson has knocked Zigrand down with a huge combo! Dowson steps away and waves a wobbly Zigrand back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Larry Dowson tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
