The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez gets tackled into the cage by Jones Jr. Jones Jr maintains the clinch.
Velasquez tightens his grip and picks Jones Jr up, before dumping him to the ground. Jones Jr manages to land in guard.

Velasquez lands a couple of elbows.
Velasquez postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Velasquez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Jones Jr is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Velasquez is controlling him.
Velasquez working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jones Jr's head.
Velasquez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jones Jr wants to stand up but Velasquez is controlling him.
Velasquez has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Velasquez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Velasquez stops Jones Jr from standing up.
Jones Jr is looking to stand back up but Velasquez counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Jones Jr.
Jones Jr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Velasquez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Velasquez drops an elbow to the side of Jones Jr's head.
Jones Jr is defending against the submission attempts here by Velasquez.
Jones Jr scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Velasquez manages to mount him!
Velasquez loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Jones Jr scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Velasquez land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Velasquez stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stipe Velasquez!
During a confident post fight interview, Stipe Velasquez thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
