Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aslanbek Barayev (ranked 2294 p4p, 201 weight class) and Island King (ranked 2204 p4p, 196 weight class). Barayev comes to the cage accompanied by Antirespect - There. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Aslanbek Barayev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Island King!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barayev gets a clinch.

King gets control of Barayev's arms and successfully pulls guard. King will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Barayev tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barayev is pushing down on King's leg trying to pass to half guard. King is fighting to maintain full guard but Barayev has managed to sneak the leg through.

Barayev is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and King defends it well.

Barayev seems to be looking for submissions.

King is defending against the submission attempts here by Barayev.
King tries to get to full guard but Barayev has control of the leg.
King won't allow Barayev to pass to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

King is looking for a sweep. Barayev is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Barayev is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Barayev looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Barayev prevents King from standing back up.
Barayev passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for King!
King is wriggling around trying to escape.
Barayev tries to control but King wriggling away.
King regains half guard.

Barayev is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so King is just riding it out for now. Barayev eventually gives up the hold.

Barayev is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

King is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Barayev pulls his head out easily.
Barayev will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

King pushes Barayev off looking to stand but Barayev dives back in and keeps control.

King keeping moving, preventing Barayev from controlling successfully.
Barayev controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Barayev trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Barayev passes King's left leg - he's now in half guard.
King is pressing down on Barayev's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

King is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Barayev is aware though and is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Barayev fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with King, pushing him back against the cage.

King successfully pulls guard.

Barayev thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Barayev drops back looking for a leg! King is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and King manages to kick Barayev off! Barayev jumps back into King's guard.

King has his foot on Barayev's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barayev works his way back into a safe position though.

Barayev got a little sloppy there for a moment and King has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Barayev has managed to get both his arms back between King's legs - danger averted.
Barayev pushes down on King's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Barayev is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that King can do to turn this around?
