Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Edmundo Grimes (ranked 6203 p4p, 0 weight class) and Just Fight (ranked 5281 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edmundo Grimes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Just Fight!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Bruno Lombardi and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grimes misses with a kick to the body.
Fight darts in looking for a takedown but Grimes gets double underhooks and turns Fight into the cage.
Grimes attempts a counter takedown but Fight avoids it well and moves away.
Fight shoots in for a double leg but Grimes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Fight tries for a takedown but Grimes circles away easily

and Grimes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fight's guard.
Edmundo Grimes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Just Fight.
Fight has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Grimes has passed into side control.

Grimes stands up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Grimes stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Fight goes for a double leg but Grimes avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Grimes continues to drive forward.
Fight displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Grimes.
Fight fails with an attempt to clinch.
Fight tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Grimes defends well and Fight ends up having to push Grimes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Grimes gets tackled into the cage by Fight. Fight maintains the clinch.

Grimes is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Fight to keep the fight standing.
Fight is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Grimes pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Grimes ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Grimes no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Grimes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fight's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fight is wriggling around but Grimes manages to pass to half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Grimes connects with a nice short shot to Fight's temple.

Fight works his way to full guard. Good work.
Fight is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Grimes gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Fight tries to close the distance and clinch but Grimes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fight wants to clinch but Grimes slips to the side

and Grimes counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Grimes.

Grimes trying to stand up but can't free himself from Fight's guard.

Grimes is stalling in the full guard.
Fight is looking to sweep but instead, Grimes has passed into half guard.
Grimes slows the pace down in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edmundo Grimes dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Fight shoots in for a double leg but Grimes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Fight blocks a low kick nicely.
Fight is looking for the big counter here.
Just Fight seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Grimes looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Grimes wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Fight uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grimes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Grimes won't allow Fight to get back to his feet.

Fight looking for a guillotine here but Grimes defends easily.
Grimes is looking to stand up but Fight won't let him.
Grimes not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Grimes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fight is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Grimes seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fight for as long as he can get away with.
Fight manages to work his way to half guard, despite Grimes's best efforts.
Grimes looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Grimes is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Grimes tries to stand and escape but Fight actually recovers to full guard.
Grimes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Fight tries to sprawl but Grimes drives through with a takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Grimes is working for a submission of some sort.
Fight wants to get back to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fight is looking to control Grimes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fight avoid being mounted?
Still in half guard, Grimes seems content to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Grimes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Fight swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Grimes holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Grimes has clasped his hands together around Fight's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Fight tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Grimes controls the action.

Fight defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Grimes's arms.

Fight trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Grimes has the hooks in. Fight is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Fight defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard.
Grimes looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Fight puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Grimes is staying active underneath Fight, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Grimes is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Fight has latched onto it... Big trouble! Fight pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Grimes is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Fight!
