Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Reuben Palhares (ranked 5108 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Malloy (ranked 6324 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Reuben Palhares!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Malloy!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Malloy forces Palhares back against the cage and clinches.
Palhares struggles to land a body shot inside as Malloy controls his hands.

Malloy jumps guard and drags Palhares to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Malloy seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Palhares trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Palhares works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Palhares is looking to take a break and control but Malloy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Malloy looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Palhares tries to pass the half guard into mount. Malloy knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Palhares seems to be working for a kimura but Malloy defends the submission attempt.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Palhares doesn't manage to clinch there - Malloy circles away.

Malloy blocks an uppercut.
Palhares misses with a hook to the ribs.
Palhares throws a head punch that misses.
Palhares struggles to land a body shot inside as Malloy controls his hands.

Palhares has a couple of punches blocked by Malloy.
Palhares doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Malloy breaks the clinch.
Palhares doesn't manage to clinch there - Malloy circles away.

Palhares gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Palhares has his foot on Malloy's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Malloy works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close round but I would say that Reuben Palhares will probably get the nod.

Palhares is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Malloy to keep the fight standing.

Malloy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Palhares manages to get himself to full guard.

Palhares has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Malloy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Palhares escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Malloy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Michael Malloy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Malloy shoots in looking for a takedown. Palhares tries to sprawl out of it but Malloy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Palhares manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Palhares tries to close the distance and clinch up but Malloy swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Malloy tries a head kick but it misses.
Palhares has a takedown stuffed.
Palhares displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Malloy.
Palhares tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Malloy manages to circle out of the way.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Will Malloy go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Palhares can't escape the position.
Michael Malloy has got the better of the ground game so far.
Palhares just trying to survive but Malloy is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
