Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Huber (ranked 5091 p4p, 489 weight class) and Desmond Flannery (ranked 4945 p4p, 482 weight class). Huber comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman. Flannery has chosen Dropkick Murphys - I'm Shipping Up To Boston as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 52 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Huber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Desmond Flannery!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Huber shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Flannery napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Huber cracks Flannery with a big right hand but Flannery just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Huber thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Huber wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Flannery, who protects the arm well.

Huber is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Flannery is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Huber working the strikes but Flannery uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Huber working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Huber is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Flannery is defending against the submission attempts here by Huber.
Huber has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Huber prevents Flannery from improving his position.

Flannery is looking to control Huber's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Flannery avoid being mounted?

Huber looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Flannery is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Huber pulls his head out easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Flannery has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Huber is working away from the top position though.

Huber seems to be working for a kimura but Flannery defends the submission attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Flannery wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Huber not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Huber is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Flannery doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Huber.

Flannery moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Flannery has Huber pulled in close to control his posture.
Flannery manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Huber manages to get himself to full guard.

Huber is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Flannery defends well.

Flannery is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Flannery makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Flannery must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Flannery postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.


Huber is rocked!
Flannery loads up on a big left hand. Huber felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Flannery looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Huber can't hide his disappointment, as Flannery celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Desmond Flannery!
A relieved looking Desmond Flannery thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
