Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Midget (ranked 1037 p4p, 130 weight class) and Colin Monroe (ranked 1239 p4p, 153 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Midget!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Colin Monroe!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Midget has his takedown stuffed
and Monroe counters with a straight right hand.
Monroe swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Monroe scores with a jab. Midget acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

and Midget counters with a single leg into guard. Monroe didn't expect that.

Midget has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Midget accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Midget shoots in looking for a takedown but Monroe manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Midget's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Monroe counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Monroe throws a sloppy head kick and Midget moves out of range easily.
A nice inside leg kick there by Monroe. That's going to slow Midget down.
Monroe lands a head shot.
Midget goes for a double leg but Monroe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Monroe continues to drive forward.

Midget shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Monroe pushes Midget off looking to stand but Midget dives back in and keeps control.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Monroe. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Monroe has one foot on Midget's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Colin Monroe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters circle momentarily. Monroe darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Monroe will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Monroe is pushing Midget's head away, looking to escape. Midget manages to hold on to the position though.
Justin Midget has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Colin Monroe is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
