Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hanny Sledgehammer (ranked 4127 p4p, 452 weight class) and Pascual Perez (ranked 6597 p4p, 554 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Perez's choice of entrance music: Another One Bites The Dust. Pascual Perez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

19 - 32 - 1, fighting out of New York, Pascual Perez!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sledgehammer clobbers Perez with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
It looks like Pascual Perez has been cut.
Sledgehammer moves into range and clinches up with Perez.
Perez is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Sledgehammer is defending well for now.
Sledgehammer misses with a punch on the inside.
Perez looking to throw knees to the head but Sledgehammer is blocking nicely.
Perez is trying to break free.
Perez throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Perez with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Sledgehammer lands a hook that snaps the head of Perez backwards.
Perez tries for a takedown. No joy.
Perez blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Perez is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Sledgehammer can't fight it off and eventually Perez manages to take the fight to the floor. Sledgehammer looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Perez working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sledgehammer wants to get back to his feet but Perez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Sledgehammer tries to work over Perez's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Sledgehammer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Perez fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sledgehammer to the ground. Perez is now in Sledgehammer's guard.

Sledgehammer has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Perez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sledgehammer has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Perez regains guard immediately.

Sledgehammer has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Perez clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Sledgehammer cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Perez controls Sledgehammer momentarily but Sledgehammer frees himself.
Sledgehammer gets to his feet - Perez follows without any prompting.
Perez is looking to clinch but Sledgehammer is avoiding it.
Sledgehammer was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Sledgehammer drives through and clinches with Perez against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sledgehammer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Perez tries to land a knee to the head but Sledgehammer blocks with his arms.

Sledgehammer has Perez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Sledgehammer pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Perez tumbling to the mat - Sledgehammer dives into Perez's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sledgehammer throws a combination that misses
and Perez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Sledgehammer throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Perez.

Perez goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Perez seems to have recovered his senses.

Sledgehammer steps in with a hook that catches Perez right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Sledgehammer follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Perez looks absolutely devastated.
