Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rhett Dunn (ranked 5161 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodger Beltrad (ranked 3649 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rhett Dunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodger Beltrad!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Topper Green and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beltrad shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dunn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Dunn is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Beltrad is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Beltrad working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Beltrad's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Beltrad stays in close to Dunn's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dunn striking off his back but it's not causing Beltrad any problems.

Dunn is trying to hold Beltrad in close to prevent damage but Beltrad has managed to pass into half guard.
Dunn is trying to maintain the position but Beltrad is very close to passing his half guard.

Dunn has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beltrad is working away from the top position though.
Well, if Beltrad is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dunn clinches.

Dunn pulls guard.
Beltrad distracts Dunn with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Dunn controls Beltrad momentarily but Beltrad frees himself.
Beltrad showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Beltrad throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Dunn keeping moving, preventing Beltrad from controlling successfully.
Beltrad slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Beltrad landing with the ground and pound.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Dunn is looking to clinch but Beltrad is avoiding it.

Beltrad closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dunn did well to prevent Beltrad getting side control.

We've been informed that Beltrad has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Dunn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dunn has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beltrad is working away from the top position though.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Beltrad throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Dunn stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Beltrad ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dunn moves away.

Dunn closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Dunn is trying to stall.
Beltrad is pressed up against the cage. Dunn has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Beltrad down to the mat. Beltrad avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Beltrad misses with a body shot.
Dunn is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Dunn tries to land a body kick

and Beltrad counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dunn won't be happy with that.

Dunn parries the strikes from Beltrad easily there. Beltrad is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Dunn to escape.

Beltrad controls the position.
Rodger Beltrad has got the better of the ground game so far.
You can see the frustration on Dunn's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Beltrad's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dunn is not content to let Beltrad control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Beltrad throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Dunn tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Beltrad is in Dunn's guard.

Beltrad wants to control from the top but Dunn keeps moving.

Beltrad shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Beltrad showed some decent athleticism there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rodger Beltrad showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Dunn has his foot on Beltrad's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Beltrad works his way back into a safe position though.

Dunn is concentrating on defense, preventing Beltrad from advancing position.

Let's hope that Beltrad has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
