Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Roberts (ranked 4829 p4p, 469 weight class) and Dzik Poddawacz (ranked 4172 p4p, 436 weight class). Dzik Poddawacz told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeff Roberts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dzik Poddawacz!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poddawacz drops his hands momentarily and Roberts takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Roberts lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Poddawacz circles away quickly and effectively.
Poddawacz looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Poddawacz throws a predictable looking body shot
and Roberts counters with a straight right hand.
Roberts staying out of range there.
Roberts misses with a series of wild punches.
Roberts ducks under a wild hook from Poddawacz.
Poddawacz loads up on a big right hand but Roberts slips the punch.
Roberts stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Roberts wants it to stay on the feet.
Roberts swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Poddawacz is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Sloppy strikes from Roberts. Those never looked like landing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Poddawacz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Roberts throws a poor cross that misses
and Poddawacz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Poddawacz slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Roberts wants to stand and escape but Poddawacz is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Poddawacz works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Roberts knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Poddawacz on the ground.
Poddawacz in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Roberts tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Poddawacz!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dzik Poddawacz!
Dzik Poddawacz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
