PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Richard Richards (ranked 6932 p4p, 400 weight class) and Billy Krimson (ranked 6523 p4p, 388 weight class). Krimson has chosen Landser - 88 Rock NīRoll Band as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Billy Krimson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Richard Richards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Billy Krimson!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left lands for Krimson.

Richards clinches up with Krimson and pushes him back against the cage.
Richards throws a punch but it's blocked by Krimson.
Richards can't find room to land a body shot as Krimson controls the action.
Krimson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Krimson is trying to push Richards away but Richards has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Richards's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Richards fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Krimson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Richards walks into a left hand.
A punch lands to the side of Richards 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Richards throws a lazy uppercut
and Krimson counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Krimson lands with a hook. Richards tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Krimson lands a nice looking body shot.
Krimson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Richards's head backwards.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Richards is looking to clinch but Krimson is avoiding it.
Krimson throws a shot to the body.
Krimson has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Richards is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Richard Richards seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Krimson jabs at Richards's body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Richards tries to clinch there but Krimson circles away.
It seemed like Krimson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Krimson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Richards keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Richards tries to clinch but Krimson moves out of range.
Krimson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

and Krimson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Richards thinking.
Jab, jab by Krimson - just one landing.
Krimson connects with a jab.
Krimson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Richards.

Krimson gets tackled into the cage by Richards. Richards maintains the clinch.
Richards misses with a punch on the inside.
Krimson blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Krimson can't break the clinch.
Richards has Krimson pressed against the cage, preventing Krimson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Krimson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Richards throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Krimson was covering up waiting for the punch and Richards finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Richards accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Krimson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Richards. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Krimson being controlled here, momentarily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Richards seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Krimson for as long as he can get away with.
Richards throws a big right hand that misses.
Richards throwing strikes from guard but Krimson blocks nicely.
Richards might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Richards working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Richards postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Richards's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Richards is working Krimson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Richards advances to half guard.
Richards is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Krimson is trying to stand back up but Richards is controlling him
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Krimson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Richards thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Krimson's head.
Krimson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Richards.
Krimson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Richards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Richards is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Richards working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Richards looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Krimson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.


Krimson is rocked!
Richards with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Krimson is still in real trouble! Can Richards finish him?
Richards working over Krimson with some ground and pound. Krimson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Richards connects with a nice short shot to Krimson's temple.
Richards is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Krimson is hurt! He's hurt bad - Richards fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Krimson from any more punishment! Congratulations to Richards! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Richard Richards!
Billy Krimson spoke after the fight, saying 'You all are beneath me!!!!! You dont derseve any more words from a superior being like myself!'.
