The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi misses with a takedown attempt
and Whitebeard counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gomi fails with the takedown
and Gomi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like Takanori Gomi has been cut.
Gomi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Whitebeard cracks Gomi with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Whitebeard has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Gomi to stand back up!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Whitebeard lands a brutal uppercut that launches Gomi off his feet! Gomi tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

A pretty intense looking Brook Whitebeard took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
