Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Jackson (ranked 2600 p4p, 306 weight class) and Jimbo Covert (ranked 3175 p4p, 356 weight class). Jack Jackson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimbo Covert!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Covert. Beautiful body shot.
Covert throws a looping overhand right but Jackson ducks down to avoid it.
Jackson on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Covert. Covert obviously looking to wear him down.
Covert misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Covert throws a shot from downtown. Jackson moves away and avoids it.
Jackson takes one to the chin there.
A nice inside leg kick there by Covert. That's going to slow Jackson down.
Covert lands with a thumping leg kick.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Jack Jackson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Jackson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jackson drops back looking for a leg! Covert is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Covert manages to kick Jackson off! Jackson jumps back into Covert's guard.

Jackson has gone for a leg lock! Covert slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jackson's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jackson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Covert doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Covert manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Jackson is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Five Round Fight Club NY ($950 50 max), so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Jackson manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Covert keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Jackson is stalling here. Covert is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jackson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Covert has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Covert got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jackson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Covert has managed to get both his arms back between Jackson's legs - danger averted.

Jackson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Covert gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jackson is looking to cinch up a triangle. Covert throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Jackson's body to avoid the submission. Jackson has instead reached around Covert's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Jackson arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
