Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between He Mu (ranked 1777 p4p, 255 weight class) and Neil Gilas (ranked 1413 p4p, 207 weight class). Gilas has chosen Remember The Name - Fort Minor as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, He Mu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Neil Gilas!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mu moves out of range as Gilas throws a body kick.
Gilas feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Mu's calf.
Gilas tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mu uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Gilas has time to react.


It looks like Neil Gilas has been cut.
Mu takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Gilas throws a front kick aimed at Mu's knee but Mu avoids it well.
Mu seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Nice uppercut there from Gilas.
Gilas looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Mu was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
A head kick misses from Mu.
Gilas has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gilas tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mu swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gilas fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Mu checks it well.
Gilas dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Mu. That did some damage!
Gilas fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mu.
Gilas is looking to clinch but Mu is avoiding it.
Mu looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
He Mu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mu checks the leg kick.
Mu looks to land a body kick but Gilas moved away.

Gilas shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Gilas is trying to control the action in half guard but Mu is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Gilas might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mu haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Mu is looking to escape.

Gilas stands up out of the half guard.

Gilas fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mu looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Gilas throws a leg kick that is checked
and Mu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Gilas throws a low kick but Mu avoids it.
Gilas throws the kick towards the body but Mu avoids it.
A left lands for Mu.
Gilas tries for a takedown but Mu circles away easily
and Mu counters with a one-two to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Good work by Mu as he checks the leg kick.
Mu gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Gilas.
Mu just misses with a punch to the body.
A low kick from Gilas is predictable there
and Mu connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mu bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.


Gilas is rocked!

Gilas on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Mu. Mu obviously looking to wear him down.
Gilas lands with a cross.
Gilas throws a leg kick but Mu sees it coming and moves out of range.
Neil Gilas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mu uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gilas.
Mu misses with a wild body shot.
Gilas drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mu defends it well.
Mu checks a leg kick.
Gilas throws a nice inside leg kick.
A left lands for Gilas.
Mu throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Gilas misses with a low kick.
Mu is looking to counter punch.
Gilas lands with a thumping leg kick.
Mu takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Gilas goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Mu slips a jab from Gilas.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gilas.
Gilas just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromMu.
Mu tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gilas was well out of range. Poor timing from Mu.
Gilas was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Mu checks a leg kick nicely.

Mu appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Good leg kick by Gilas there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Mu drops his hands momentarily and Gilas takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Gilas throws a good cross that connects.
Good work by Mu as he checks the leg kick.
It looked like Mu wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Mu throws a shot from downtown. Gilas moves away and avoids it.
Mu misses with a hook.
Gilas steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mu.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neil Gilas dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Neil Gilas's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Gilas, right into the meat.
Gilas thows a leg kick but Mu checks it

and Mu counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Gilas down! Mu is looking to finish but Gilas is intelligently defending himself.
Mu has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Gilas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gilas is pulling down on Mu's head. It's preventing any offense from Mu, at least for the moment.
Gilas looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mu trying to stand up but can't free himself from Gilas's guard.

Mu wants to stand and escape but instead Gilas has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Gilas working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mu managing to control the position.

Mu utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gilas trying to control but Mu is working from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mu avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Gilas throws a leg kick which misses Mu's front leg but catches the back leg as Mu tries to avoid it.
He Mu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Gilas moves in looking to clinch but Mu pushes him off.

and Mu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That kick from Gilas tenderised Mu's leg. Mu is trying to keep his angry face on.
Gilas throws a leg kick that is checked
and Mu counters with a straight right hand.
Mu has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mu there as he acknowledges the shot.
A solid leg kick lands there for Gilas.
Gilas attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Mu drops his shoulder and cracks Gilas with a huge uppercut! Gilas goes down! Can Mu finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gilas is trying to control the position but Mu postures up.

Gilas looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Mu stands up and waves to Gilas to follow him.
Mu takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Gilas tries a low kick but Mu avoids it.
Mu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gilas circles away quickly and effectively.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Neil Gilas will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Gilas scores with a shot to the body.
Gilas lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Mu moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Gilas goes down! Can Mu finish him!?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gilas controls Mu momentarily but Mu frees himself.
Gilas looking for a sweep. Not yet Gilas, not yet.
Gilas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gilas is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Gilas wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Neil Gilas is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Gilas jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Mu is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

and Gilas counters with a good low kick that Mu was not able to check.

Gilas let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Gilas lands with a straight right. Mu didn't see that one coming.

Gilas lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Mu throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gilas sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Gilas connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Mu clobbers Gilas with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Mu checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Gilas scores with a push kick.
Gilas connects with a good right hand that stumbles Mu. Mu circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
A telegraphed right hand from Mu misses the target.

Mu tries to bum rush Gilas with a series of wild strikes but Gilas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gilas digs a good hook to Mu's body.
The crowd cheers as Gilas lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mu doesn't seem phased though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Mu counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Gilas throws a front kick aimed at Mu's knee but Mu avoids it well.
Mu throws a big counter combination but Gilas scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

and Gilas counters with a nice low kick that buckles Mu's knee momentarily.
Gilas throws a body punch but Mu moves out of range.

and Mu counters with a left to the body.
Gilas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Gilas blocks a jab.
Mu throws an overhand right that lands on Gilas's shoulder, as Gilas tries to avoid the shot.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to He Mu.
Well Gilas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
