The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamamoto takes one on the button.
Knives pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Yamamoto takes a jab right on the kisser.
Yamamoto definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
A punch combination from Knives misses.
Knives misses with a straight left.
Yamamoto tries for a takedown but Knives circles away easily
and Knives cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Knives counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Yamamoto shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Knives's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Yamamoto drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Knives manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Yamamoto has Knives in his guard.

Knives is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Yamamoto has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Knives is looking to defend but Yamamoto has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Knives! Yamamoto pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Knives taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Norifumi Yamamoto!
