The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and Franklyn Lucas.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Franco shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Franco keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Franco counters with a nice low kick that buckles Smith's knee momentarily.
We've been informed that Franco has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Smith postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Franco covers up, he's hurt! Smith keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Smith and the ref steps in to end the fight! Smith can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

After the fight, Johnny Smith was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
