PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kazushi Mizushima (ranked 2046 p4p, 238 weight class) and Severo Del Bosque (ranked 824 p4p, 96 weight class). Del Bosque is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Mimosa - Drippin. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kazushi Mizushima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 21 - 0, fighting out of London, Severo Del Bosque!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mizushima gets a double leg takedown into Del Bosque's guard.
Del Bosque keeping full guard, as Mizushima tries to pass.
Del Bosque has Mizushima pulled in close to control his posture.
Mizushima lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Mizushima is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Mizushima is fighting to break Del Bosque's control of his arms but Del Bosque is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Del Bosque utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mizushima slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Mizushima has his foot on Del Bosque's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Del Bosque works his way back into a safe position though.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Mizushima needs to keep his hands up - Del Bosque had a free shot at his head there.

and Del Bosque counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Mizushima tries to score a power double leg takedown but Del Bosque sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mizushima somewhat.
Mizushima ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Del Bosque throws a push kick but Mizushima slaps the foot to one side.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mizushima is trying hard to land a takedown here. Del Bosque sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Mizushima throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Del Bosque's waist but Del Bosque gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mizushima off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kazushi Mizushima. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Del Bosque throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Severo Del Bosque will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Mizushima with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Del Bosque to score with a decent uppercut.

Mizushima closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Del Bosque to the mat! Del Bosque manages to get full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kazushi Mizushima will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Mizushima throws a strike but Del Bosque avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Mizushima connects with a couple of short punches.
Del Bosque keeping moving, preventing Mizushima from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mizushima is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Mizushima drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Del Bosque manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mizushima has Del Bosque in his guard.

Severo Del Bosque comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Del Bosque has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
