Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bret Lane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ivan Drago!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lane shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Drago scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Drago closes the distance and pushes Lane back into the cage.
Lane manages to break the clinch.
Drago feints and as Lane raises his hands in defense, Drago changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lane manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Drago gets control of Lane's arms and successfully pulls guard. Drago will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Lane working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Lane throws a big elbow that misses.
Lane postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lane content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Drago has locked up a guillotine! Drago's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Lane is holding on here and Drago must be using up a lot of energy. Lane has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Drago gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
